It is very important that you know how to do add, multiply, subtract, and divide fractions... not using a calculator (if you have that function).. but on paper. When multiplying, you need to be able to use the method of cancelling common factors BEFORE multiplying. You will need these skills for the upcoming unit and also in the algebra units. Please complete the yellow review sheet and if you still need more practice, there are two other sheets above that you can download (I also have copies). As well, in the left column there are links to practice. We will be having an understanding check activity (for marks) on Monday to make sure you have mastered this skill.

In order to be able to do fractions quickly, it is important that you have mastered your times tables up to 10x10. If you haven't you can see the link on the left column that is a practice of times tables.
In the first unit of the year, we will be working with negative and positive fractions and decimals. You therefore need to have mastered adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers (negative and positive numbers.. les nombres entiers rélatifs). Please complete the yellow review sheet. If you still need more practice, there is another sheet above that you can download (I also have copies). As well, in the left column there are links to practice. We will be having an understanding check activity (for marks) next week to make sure you have mastered this skill.
